Tips for Picking the Best Garage Door Color

Tips for picking the best garage door color

What is it that attracts people to your home before they ever step inside? If you answered the curb appeal, then you are on the right track. People judge your home by looking at the outside first, naturally. It is the first thing that they ever see, and the overall exterior of the home is generally a good indicator of what the inside will be. From the landscaping to the color of your front door, all of the little details really do matter. In fact, one quite important detail happens to be one that many people tend to forget.

We’re talking about the color of your garage door. When you have the right color, it can bring the other elements of your exterior together and give your home the “whole package” appearance.

It is one of the largest features on the home, so it is natural that the color is so important – the door is one of those first things that people will see, and you can be sure their eyes will gravitate toward it! If you have a very wide garage, or more than one door, then it can have an even greater effect. Don’t just use some of that “leftover” paint for the door. Take some time and really put some thought into what you choose.

The color scheme

Unless you are purposely going for an eclectic appearance, then you need to put some careful thought into the color, as well as how it matches with the other elements on your home and in the environment. The details are highly important. Consider the color of your home and the color of the trim around your windows. Consider the color of your front door as well. It might look nice if you have your front door and your garage door match. This is not a necessity by any means, but it is one way to go.

White is a classic color for a garage door, and it will work well in many cases. If you have a gray home, for example, the white can really pop out, and it does look great. However, that is certainly not the only popular color for doors today. Some of the different options include sand color or beige, brown, charcoal, black, blue, and green. You can find a variety of offshoots from these colors, as well as entirely different color options as well. By creating some contrast with the colors from your home and your garage, you will find they are visually far more interesting.

So many options

Homeowners have a wealth of options at their fingertips depending on just what type of garage door they have. They can choose from many colors, or they could choose an anodized aluminum door. Wooden doors are also quite popular, and sometimes, they do not need to have any color at all. The wood grain is beautiful enough. Feel free to use a little creativity and to make your garage just the way you like it.
