Need Some Contemporary Garage Door Inspiration? We’ve Got You Covered!

We all want our homes to represent our sense of beauty, style and aesthetics. Over the past few years, garage door manufacturers have realized the importance of this with their products – contemporary garage doors offer beauty, style and pizzazz. One leader in the industry, Garaga, is actually now offering 24 unique models, with seven of them firmly planted in the contemporary or modern design category.

Are these garage doors the right fit for all homes? Of course not. Below, we’ll give you a helping hand to better understand your options, how they fit with different home designs, and more.

What does modern or contemporary style mean?

First, let’s explain what’s meant by modern or contemporary style. For most homes in this area, you’ll note that they have straight, clean lines. Many have flat roofs, or four slopes of the same angle. The exteriors usually mix wood and stone, as well. Some contemporary homes use dark exterior colors, such as mocha or black, and most of them have large window and patio door openings, as well.

The name Frank Lloyd Wright is often synonymous with this type of design. He’s actually responsible for popularizing the ranch style of home, thanks to his Usonian design back in the 1950s.

Understanding garaga garage door styles

So, what types of designs can you find with Garaga? If you’re looking for clean, straight lines, you’ll discover quite a few options that can help you evoke the aesthetic that you want, including the following:

  • Vog: This door features a deep, V‑shaped horizontal groove, 40” x 1.25” (102 x 3 cm) in length per section, delivering the understated elegance that you desire.
  • Moderno: This garage door features a very thin continuous line running the width of the door (3⁄16” or 5 mm). It also comes in two flavor options – the two-bead with individual sections featuring a top and bottom line, and the multi-bead, with equally spaced lines occurring roughly every four inches.
  • Grooved: This door is similar to the Moderno, except that the line is a full inch in height (25 mm) running across the width of the door. Choose from four or five line configurations depending on door height.
  • Flush: For those seeking a sleek, smooth look, this garage door features no embossed lines or grooves. It’s minimalist and smooth, using just light woodgrain to evoke the style of the 1950s.
